Winter Colorguard Update 4-18-16

Winter Colorguard,

We are down our final weeks of the season, as the Competition group has Chapter Championships this Saturday! We will be making a few adjustment’s to this week’s schedule:

The ONLY rehearsal this week will be on TUESDAY…and it will be COMPETITION GROUP ONLY from 7-9 PM. There is a scheduling conflict on Thursday, therefore the priority is to maximize rehearsal time for the competition group in advance of their championship performance.

Saturday’s competition battle plan is below and attached. Truck driver is needed by 10:00 AM by the band room driveway. Chaperones needed by 10:30 AM.

Looking further ahead, please don’t forget the we have our concert dress rehearsal on Monday, April 25th. That rehearsal will now take place from 6:00-7:30 PM for all members in the HS auditorium – extending an extra half hour to make up for the lost time. The final concert performance for everyone is on Tuesday, April 26th.

Lastly, attached is a flyer for our annual Marching Band new members meeting, which will be held on Thursday, April 28th at 7 PM in the band room. If you are not currently a member, but might be interested, please consider attending this meeting to find out more information. If you have enjoyed winter colorguard…then you will more than likely LOVE marching band!

BATTLE PLAN for Saturday, April 23
Chapter 2 Regional Championships
@ Souderton Area HS
625 Lower Rd., Souderton, PA 18964

8:45 am – School open
9:00 am – Colorguard practice begins
9:15 am – Percussion practice begins
10:15 am – Load equipment truck
11:00 am – Depart for Souderton HS ; Eat packed lunch on bus ride
12:00 pm – Arrive at Souderton HS ; Check-in, unload truck, begin percussion warm-up
1:45 pm – Percussion Performance
1:55 pm – Percussion Load equipment truck ; Colorguard go back to classroom to change into uniform, begin warm-up
3:30 pm – Percussion join Colorguard to help with floor mat/props
3:53 pm – Colorguard Performance
4:05 pm – Percussion load floor mat, flags onto truck ; Colorguard go back to classroom to change into “civies”
4:30 pm – Free time at show to eat dinner, watch other groups, etc.
7:50 pm – ALL meet in gym to get ready for awards
8:15 pm – Awards
9:00 pm – Depart for Home
10:00 pm – Estimated arrival time home…ALL members must stay at the school until the equipment truck is completely unloaded. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

A list of things all members should bring with them for the entire day:
Equipment
Uniform
Make-up / Hair products/Bobby pins/etc.
Black opaque tights, black tank top (Colorguard)
Flip flops or moccasins for walking around school (Colorguard)
“Civies” – change of clothes for after performance for COLORGUARD
Sweatshirt or jacket
Packed lunch to eat on bus ride
Snacks for before/after performance
Money for dinner at refreshment stand
Please come prepared, be flexible, and let’s work together so that we can reach our fullest potential!

Winter Colorguard,

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to all of you for your assistance and cooperation in making our home show a huge success! Between the parents who volunteered, our non-competitive members who helped out, and our competitive group as well — THANK YOU!

We are now winding down to the final weeks of rehearsals and performances. This week will resume the normal Tuesday/Thursday rehearsal schedule. Please note that there is NO competition this Saturday.

Finally, a reminder that the Small Ensemble Concert date is officially confirmed for April 26th.

Small Ensemble Concert — April 26th it remains

Based on the feedback I’ve received thus far, we have made the decision to keep the Small Ensemble Concert on OUR original date of Tuesday, April 26th. We will spread the word via the district website to make sure people are aware of the correct date going forward.

Thank you all for your quick responses and see you Saturday! Let’s all hope for NO SNOW!!!
